It has been a good couple of weeks for people that are tired of narrative driven broadcasters who don't back up their takes with anything of substance. Sportsnet cut ties with Doug MacLean, Nick Kypreos and John Shannon. Those moves are a step in the right direction to try and shape the conversation towards being modern and relevant. Although those cuts had a minimal impact on viewers in the United States.

United States viewers may get a break of their own.

Tremendous news. This guy is a poison to any broadcast he is on. There is no secret how I feel about Pierre McGuire and his useless information and toxic arrogance. He's a pathetic man who has been enabled by NBC for years. NBC has done a poor job with broadcasting the NHL for many years and the biggest reason has been the personnel they've relied on most (McGuire, Milbury, Jones, Roenick). McGuire is probably the guy they have leaned on most to their own detriment. He's a weirdo with a track record of being terrible when given an opportunity in the NHL. His stint in Hartford is a legendary comedic tale.

Cheers to us, the hockey viewer for not having to put up with Pierre on literally every NBC broadcast anymore. Sure, he's not gone for good, but any and every decrease in his screen time is a victory for everybody.

Adios, Regis
