The Kings and adidas unveiled their '90s Era Heritage adidas adizero sweater last night as part of the State of the Franchise event in downtown LA.
"We all loved wearing the jersey as players and I personally love seeing it in the community to this day." - Luc Robitaille
From the Kings website:
"The logo was famously unveiled on August 9, 1988 when the Kings held a news conference in Los Angeles to announce the acquisition of Wayne Gretzky from the Edmonton Oilers.
The lettering and numbering for the LA Kings '90s Era Heritage Jersey features the lettering and numbering used from 1992-93 through 1997-98."
These are my favorite Kings jerseys, but the only problem is that they'll only be worn twice this year. The first night will be Saturday, February 22, when the Kings host the Colorado Avalanche as part of '90s Night. The second will be Saturday, March 21, when the Kings host the Vancouver Canucks for '80s Night.
I imagine (hope) they'll wear them more in the future and according to the Kings site, maybe that will be a possibility:
"The LA Kings '90s Era Heritage Jersey is a permanent addition to the Kings jersey line-up that now features four different team jerseys, including the LA Kings Silver adidas adizero Authentic NHL Jersey which was revealed last November."
Take one more look at these bad boys, courtesy of the adidas Hockey Twitter:
As if you weren't pumped enough about this news, don't forget that there's a fifth one up their sleeve that will be revealed for the 2020 Stadium Series game:
"A fifth LA Kings adidas adizero Authentic NHL Jersey, which will not be a permanent addition to the line-up, will be unveiled by the NHL and the Kings soon as part of the 2020 NHL Stadium Series game on February 15, 2020 at Falcon Stadium in Colorado Springs, Colorado when the Kings face the host Avalanche." - Kings site
