Some mid-summer observations and tidbits…

The National TV schedule hit last week and the Predators will be on national TV 12 times, the league maximum for exclusive appearances. Certainly a far cry from the days where NBC couldn’t find the city. Two of the first three home games will be on NBCSN along with two more home games as the season progresses.

The obvious highlight of the national TV schedule is the Bridgestone Winter Classic on New Year’s Day from the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Almost every Central Division rival will have a national TV game, the Wild (x2), Stars, Blackhawks (x2), Blues and Avalanche are on the schedule, just missing Winnipeg.

The Predators did finish up the RFA signings by signing Rocco Grimaldi to a one year, $1 million deal that was awarded by the arbitrator. A situation that bears watching as these hearings sometimes can cause issues between player and team… there could be a little drama on this as Grimaldi’s contract is the 24th contract, they can only carry 23 come the beginning of the season.

The players are trickling back into town… you can see them doing informal workouts at both Ford Ice Center and Centennial Sportsplex…

The other big news… and I do mean BIG is the new videoboard being installed at Bridgestone Arena. The Arena’s Twitter feed has been doing a great job keeping Pred Nation up to speed on progress. The board is now assembled and the burn-in has begun… I can’t wait to play with it!

Single game tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10am and considering the 153 game sellout streak, it may be your best chance to get tickets. They will be available at ticketmaster.com. There are plenty of options for games, ticket packages, etc…

One other announcement has to do with Preds Fest… it is scheduled for Sunday Sept. 29 and will be held at Bridgestone Arena and Walk of Fame Park. Should be fun!
