Jets Frozen out on Colin Miller?

If you follow this space or my Twitter account you know I've been a big fan of the Jets looking at and doing almost anything other than grossly overpay for Colin Miller from Vegas. Well Miller was moved and the Jets missed out again but that's not to say they didn't try and hearing from a couple people connected to the team they expressed interest.

I vented a bit last night on Twitter-

Follow that thread for my thoughts.

Now what's left is the Jets are looking at a right side on their defence that consists of

Byfuglien
Pionk
Poolman and or Niku(who will play off side)

Consider that the left side looks like this:

Morrissey
Kulikov
Beaulieu (possibly)

The defence is not far from a complete picture and that's why there is speculation on whether the Jets are inquiring around the league to add help.

Needless to say this was an opportunity missed if the Jets did not think Miller was worth pursuing and that should be troubling. If they did pursue but did not want to pay the 2nd and 3rd round pick then that valuation process also raises questions. However, given the history of Vegas trying to freeze out the Jets on the trade market something that happened in 2018 then perhaps there was no deal to be made either. That's the case where you work with a third party team to see what you can do- if anything.

For Jets fans the hope here is that there is a plan to address the defence shortage on both sides and it goes beyond bringing up Logan Stanley or picking up scraps from the UFA pool. To regroup and move forward after a disappointing season the Jets need talent and affordable talent- Miller met both those criteria.
