Calgary Flames hockey is less than three months away. Kind of.

Today they announced their preseason schedule, which is eight-games long. They'll take on San Jose, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Winnipeg two times each.

The action gets started on Monday, September 16th with a pair of split-squad games against the Canucks.

There are no overlapping games after that so fans and media alike will have the luxury of focusing on just one at a time.

Here is the full schedule from the team release sent out:

Day Date Opponent Time (MST) Venue
Monday September 16 vs. Vancouver (*) 7:00pm Scotiabank Saddledome
Monday September 16 @ Vancouver (Vict.)(*) 8:00pm Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre
Wednesday September 18 vs. San Jose 7:00pm Scotiabank Saddledome
Friday September 20 @ Edmonton 7:00pm Rogers Place
Sunday September 22 @ Winnipeg 6:00pm Bell MTS Place
Tuesday September 24 vs. Winnipeg 7:00pm Scotiabank Saddledome
Thursday September 26 @ San Jose 8:30pm SAP Center
Saturday September 28 vs. Edmonton 7:00pm Scotiabank Saddledome
(*) two team/same day format

While there is no Young Stars Tournament, it's worth mentioning the Calgary Flames *will* be participating in some rookie games prior to preseason.

They're slated to take on the Edmonton Oilers in Red Deer on September 7th before playing host to them at the Saddledome on September 10th.

That'll mark the first opportunity to see the 26th overall pick in game action wearing a Flames uniform.
