BREAKING Per TSN's Chris Johnston; Quinn Hughes Not Ready To Sign Extension

In a surprise to many, TSN insider Chris Johnston dropped a nuke on the hockey world Tuesday morning. Johnston, when asked about the Quinn Hughes contract extension claimed he's never "been committed to" and it is not something "he's ready" to do. 

Well, there you have it. It's a drum I've been banging on for over two years now. Many Scoffed at me. We were told playing for the Devils is not desirable for NHL players. We heard Wild Owner Craig Leopold being "confident" in extension, Friedman's "prediction" (at least he used his words correctly), and the biggest joke of all, Michael Russo's baseless, dreamt up, nonsensical blabbering as if he had any inside info at all. Apparently that was enough. Enough to have the Wild fanbase pound their chests with hubris. Enough for most media outlets to run with the narrative that this deal was done. 

The fact is it's not done and according to Johnston, never close. Quinn is a man of his word. He never demanded a trade from Vancouver. He is not demanding a trade from Minnesota. He never went to the media to push any agenda to force the hand of management. The only reason we know that Quinn Hughes' only wish is to play with his brothers is because of Vancouver's President of Hockey Ops, Jim Rutherford. Hughes' honesty with the club is what afforded them the ability to be proactive and receive a haul of a package for Quinn from Minnesota. 

It now appears that it is up to Bill Guerin and the Minnesota Wild to decide if they will cut their losses and recoup some value close to what they gave up for the star defenseman, or ride the season out in hopes of winning hockey's ultimate prize. If Guerin does decide to ride it out with Quinn, and the Wild don't win a Stanley Cup (which let's be honest that roster is way too thin down the middle), it may be bye, bye for the reigning GM of the year...
