The dark days in Calgary will continue until the new arena is built. The Saddledome will certainly be a missed arena of prestige and history to the hockey world between the cup win and kids run several years ago.
Dustin Wolf is the shining star on a team transitioning from veteran second round success to youth being acquired from other teams. Being along the east coast, Morgan Frost, Joel Farabee, and Simon Nemec used to wreck shop against Columbus whenever they came through Nationwide Arena. Them moving out west is a test for them to find their ceiling being first round draft selections in years previous, and the newer managements in the Metro being more willing to move younger prospects for pieces to flip in order to make the postseason sooner.
The Flames have a taller hill the climb than others as their prospect pool is only getting to be above average. Their biggest upside is their right side of defense between Nemec, Zayne Parekh, and Hunter Brzustewicz.
The offense is full of question marks besides captain Mickael Backlund, Matthew Corontao, and Yegor Sharangovich.
