In honor, here are my personal top 13 memories of Gaudreau
1. Signing with the Jackets — the moment he signed brought new life into the hockey world as he chose Columbus over Philadelphia, New York Islanders, or New Jersey where he could’ve been much closer to family as they began raising their own.
2. Calgary playoff wins — between Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk, and Mangipanie, the future looked bright in Alberta after their series win. The old guard failed the city and the youth.
3. Olympic glory — while his sweater and children were on the ice to celebrate the 2026 gold medal for the States, he was in their locker room in spirit with his jersey on display. Class act by Werenski and Tkachuk.
4. Skittles and Powerade Night — the tributes to the best American winger of all time while honoring him to open the season with 4 skaters, his name in the rafters, and the salute goal fueled a miracle run.
5. The Beanpot — Gaudreau and Kevin Hayes were a dynamic duo in Boston.
6. First NHL goal — near season’s end, his #53 wearing games led to his first NHL goal in Calgary at the Saddledome.
7. 100 point year — his best single season at over 100 points earned his family generational income thanks to the Flames.
8. First Columbus goal — couldn’t draw the play up better in video games or dreams. The reality of number 13 wearing the union blue sweater from goal one to the final game were worth every moment of praise. Only wish is playoffs.
9. Pacific All Stars — him and McDavid on the same 3v3 squad was just breathtaking.
10. Team North America — Gaudreau was on the most innovative intentional team Bettman could think of in his slumber in 2016. Having Gaudreau, Matthews, McDavid rocked!
11. Cole Caufield — the jersey number swap is top class
12. High School recognition — his old high school in New Jersey recognized his efforts as well. Another class act.
13. The Gaudreau Family Appreciation throughout the league from the practices to the Gaudreau 5K.
