After another season filled with injuries and a lack of addressing them by GM Tom Fitzgerald, the Devils announced this evening that they will part ways.
"Tom and I had a thoughtful conversation today and agreed it was time to move in a new direction," Managing Partner David Blitzer said.
The Devils, sitting at 40-34-3 would need a miracle to gain entry into this year's NHL playoffs. With just 5 games remaining Jersey would have to essentially win out and or get tremendous help from several teams currently ahead of them in the standings.
In the end this was yet another season where Fitzgerald was unable to address any of many glaring deficiencies within the roster. Did ownership want Keefe out and Deboer in? Was that the latest Fitzy fumble? We shall learn more in the coming days.
