Anthony Stolarz Taken to Hospital Following Warmup Injury

A Devastating Blow Before Puck Drop

The Toronto Maple Leafs were dealt an unexpected blow before the puck even hit the ice tonight. In a scene that left the arena confused, goaltender Anthony Stolarz suffered an injury during routine pre-game warmups, that forced the goalie off the ice. During warm ups Stolarz was hit up high with a William Nylander shot that stunned the netminder.

The Scene on the Ice

While taking standard shots during the warmup drills, Stolarz was hit up high in the crease and he was immediately shaken. Stolarz was met at the bench by Leafs trainers and taken to the locker room. Reports now indicate Stolarz was taken to a local hospital for precautionary reasons.

What This Means for the Tonight

The sudden loss of Stolarz throws an immediate wrench into the Maple Leafs' gameplan. Joseph Woll, who started last night against the Carolina Hurricanes has been thrust into the starting role with zero notice. This will be the first time in Woll's career he will start on back to back nights.

We will provide any updates as they become available.
