Simon Nemec does it again! Clutch goal after clutch goal, his third OT GWG giving the Devils three wins in their last four. Four game samples like this will need to continue, as points will be at a premium down the stretch. Here's a few notes on last night's game:
Luke Hughes Shoulder Dislocation
Reported as such from Frank Seravalli post game. Keefe mentioned that Luke is at least out for the remainder of the trip. Is this of the season ending variety? We will see as further evaluation is needed.
This injury opens the door for a few other interesting scenarios. If LTIR is a result, Fitz will have a $9m cap bump. In addition does this lead to Hamilton, who is playing much better now, staying for the remainder of this season?
Lenni Hameenaho Looks Legit
Extremely small sample size, but the Devils out chanced the Flames 9-0 when he was on the ice. Hameenaho should be in the lineup every night here on in.
Jack Hughes Returning To Form
Last night was one of the first I have seen him actually shoot pucks in a while. He looked way more comfortable. Skating was even at another level. Curious if the brace is off the hand? Or perhaps he changed it to something less bulky/restrictive. Either way great sign to see 86 more comfortable.
Another Huge One Tonight
Back to backs have not treated the Devils well in recent years, a narrative that must change if they will take any steps forward as a team. Minimum of an OT point is necessary tonight.
Put a pitchfork in this one!
