Oilers Mangiapane and Frederic On the Trading Block. (Edmonton Oilers)

Who am I? Where am I going?

So according to the rumour mill, the Oilers are shopping Andrew Mangiapane and Trent Frederic and they have so far not lived up to expectations (what those expectations are is a mystery to me).

This is really not a good look for the front office as the two guys they locked up over the summer to improve the team are not even part of the lineup.

Again, the Oilers show their lack of patience like they did with Puljujärvii, Holloway and Broberg. They can never chill and let things play out. From my perspective, it always seems like they can't send any other benefit to a player if he is not scoring.

Mangiapane is currently on a two year deal at 3.6 million so it's possible to move him as his cap hit is not too high and I truly believe he’s a good hockey player.

Trent Frederic signed an 8(!) year deal at 3.85 so trading him is next to impossible.

Now we are three and a half months into those respective contracts and the Oilers solution is to trade them. Ok.

I propose an alternate plan .

Get them both back in the lineup ASAP, give them direction, confidence and structure and you will see the value they can bring, especially Mangiapane. I hated when he was on the opposing team as he is a pest who can score, and I thought he played a great series vs MTL last year when he was in Washington.

Putting these guys on the trading block is the wrong move. Giving them a clear purpose and role on the team sounds much more appealing.
