Well I've talked to both teams, and though both confirm that neither is shopping either player, the speculation around a deal involving the Philadelphia Flyers' Owen Tippett and the Buffalo Sabres' Bowen Byram doesn't seem to want to go away... Probably.because both fanbases are invested and keeping this alive.
So maybe it's worth just looking at this possible deal….and seeing if it really makes sense for both, either or neither teams.
The Flyers have loved Bo Byram for years and reportedly even tried to get him from Colorado for Cutter Gautier...
The Flyers have a surplus of winger
The Sabres have a surplus of Defensemen…
The Flyers want a top 4 D
Sabres want a top 6 forward
Salaries….
Byram signed a two-year, $12.5 million "bridge" deal with the Sabres in July 2025,
Tippett's seven-year, $6.2 million AAV contract is considered valuable and could appeal to the Sabres.
But the big question is...
Who is better at what they do?
Tippet or Byram?
Should these teams go for it?
