The 2025-26 Devils did the improbable on Thursday night. No, they still haven't beat the Hurricanes, but for the first time this season Jersey played a full game without losing a single player to injury! Coming into last night's home opener against Florida, the Devils had lost one player in each of their first three games. Dadonov, MacEwen and Markstrom were the casualties to open the season, and all will miss a some time. Despite the rugged style the Panthers tried to impose last night, NJ did not let it slow them down.

With strong board play, tremendous puck movement on the power play and solid checking, the Devils stuck with their game and eventually broke it open in the third. A 3-1 win over the defending champs is a great way to start the home slate. Missing Barkov and Tkachuk and against a backup goaltender may make some balk at the magnitude of this win, but don't be that guy or gal. This was a tall task for Jersey and they answered the bell. One miracle down, and another looms Saturday when the Devils welcome Edmonton to the Rock. Jersey has not won four games in a row wince January of 2023, can they get it done this weekend? We shall see...
