Steven Reinprecht and Eric Lacroix have joined the organization as Pro Scouts.
Mikael Kotkaniemi has joined the organization as a European Amateur Scout.
Mark Giordano has joined the Toronto…
These additions mark a significant infusion of talent and much-needed experience into the organization.
Steven Reinprecht: A Champion's Perspective
Steven Reinprecht brings a champion's pedigree to the Leafs' front office. An 11-season NHL veteran who played for five different teams, he won a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche in 2001. After his playing career, Reinprecht returned to the Avalanche in a player development role. His keen eye for talent and unique perspective as a former two-way forward will be a valuable asset to the organization. Reinprecht joins the team in a scouting role.
Eric Lacroix: Deepening Hockey Operations Experience
Eric Lacroix played eight seasons in the NHL for five teams, including a brief three-game stint with the Leafs. After retiring, he built an extensive front-office resume with the Colorado Avalanche organization, serving as an assistant video coach and director of hockey operations before being promoted to Vice President of Hockey Operations for four years. Lacroix now brings this experience in his new role as North American scout.
Mikael Kotkaniemi: International Coaching and Development
Mikael Kotkaniemi, father of Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesperi, offers a lifetime of hockey experience, first as a player and later as a coach. He built an extensive two-decade coaching resume entirely within the Finnish system, highlighted by a significant 10-year tenure in the Liiga, Finland's top hockey league. Most recently, he has focused on talent development as a coach with the Finnish Under-18 national program. Kotkaniemi will take on a role as a European Scout.
Mark Giordano: From Captain to Coach
A familiar face to Leafs Nation, Mark Giordano is making a quick transition from the ice to the front office. Upon retiring with his hometown team, the former captain made his management ambitions clear and has immediately found his new role. The NHL's all-time leader in blocked shots will now work with the Toronto Marlies as a coaching advisor. "Gio," as he was known by teammates, has always been revered for his leadership and commitment to the highest standards—qualities he will now instill in the organization's prospects.
Treliving's Vision Takes Shape
This wave of hirings signals a clear philosophical direction for the franchise. It has become evident that General Manager Brad Treliving values a certain perspective and is surrounding the team with individuals who bring specific, high-level skill sets. No longer handcuffed by the previous regime, Treliving now has the ability to build the franchise his way.
