He may be small at 5'6", but what Rocco Grimaldi brings to the table as a fearless playmaker cannot be overstated. After suffering a knee injury in his first year at North Dakota, he had 77 points in 86 games in his next two college seasons.
He led UND to the Frozen Four semifinals last year and was also named MVP of the Midwest Regional.
Grimaldi was picked in the second round(33rd overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft. "We are very pleased to have reached a contract agreement with Rocco," said GM Dale Tallon. "He is a hard-working forward who possesses speed along with great vision on the ice. We look forward to his continued growth and development within our organization."
With training camp awaiting in September, Grimaldi surely will be working on strength and conditioning this summer. He is expected to play his first professional season in San Antonio and is yet another talented forward coming up through the pipeline in Florida.
