The Coyotes won last night over the Sharks to improve their pre-season record to 3-0-2 and Max Domi added another point, giving him 4 in 3 games.
Michalek played over 20 minutes. He had yet to get into a preseason game while nursing either an upper or lower body injury, so it's not only nice to see him play, but to play so much.
I expect there should be some more cuts soon, so stay tuned but in the meantime, here is my (obviously) unsolicited advice for each of the 30 NHL teams.
---
Anaheim: Start Gibson. Who cares if he’s struggled in camp, goalies play to their teams and its not like the Ducks had their best team dressed so far. Of all players, I don't think it matters very much if a goalie has a bad camp - it's not even until the last preseason game or two that the team dresses anything close to their real team, not a lot of guys are blocking shots etc. so cut him some slack is my advice.
Arizona: Trade Yandle for a forward already. Stone, Murphy and Gormley make him expendable and it’s the obvious play.
Boston: Find a way out of their cap problems without losing Smith, Krug or Erikson. Give Boychuck away if that’s what it takes.
Buffalo: Don’t mess up this opportunity to tank. They should have already traded Myers and Hodgson.
Calgary:Explain to me who is David Jones and why are you paying him $4 million dollars?
Carolina: Dismantle your team and start over.
Chicago: Keep Teuvo Teravainen on your roster. I would like to see him play and see if he's as good as some people have told me he is.
Colorado: Call up Doc Brown, go back six months, get something for Paul Stastny.
Columbus: Sign your best player. Don’t alienate your best player. Don’t attack him in the press. That is all. Well, maybe realize that a player might end his career at any time accidentally so you can’t blame him if he wants to sign a longterm contract. Ideally you’d lke this too since it would be cheaper to pay him for what he might do than to pay him for what he’s done, once he does it. Also, it won’t set a precedent because it might be twenty years before you get a comparable player on your roster.
Dallas: Don’t improve as much as everyone thinks you will.
Detroit: Stop being so cocky about never missing the playoffs.
Edmonton: I still kind of think $4 million for a guy on his fifth team in five years who has a career high 16 goals is a little much. Guy's a good player, but I guess $4 big ones aint what they used to be.
Florida: Reclaim Jakob Markstrum off waivers just to be hilarious.
LA: Mike Richards is their fourth line centre. They won 2 cups in 3 years. I have no advice for this team.
Minnesota: Start Darcy Kuemper. I drafted him in one of my pools. Thanks.
Montreal: Everyone in T.O complains about Bozak as the number one centre. Not to knock Desharnais, but come on. Start Galchenyuk at C and play him with Paccioretty.
Nashville: I don't think this qualifies as something they should do, but I do not like the James Neal trade for them. Or for Pittsburgh. I think everyone loses in this trade. However, I hope I am wrong because James Neal is a master of sportsmanship and is really easy to cheer for! Get the man a Lady Byng.
NJ:My advice is to do something about the fact that you have the reputation for being the league's most boring team for going on 20 years.
Islanders:Hire Mike Milbury back to be the GM. Just kidding, don't do anything. Be patient, Strome and Tavares plus that defense will eventually make this a very, very good team.
Rangers:Nothing personal here, but I don't think the Rangers are a legit Cup Contender. I think they have a better chance of missing the playoffs than getting back to the final.
Ottawa: Please publish the results of your owners investigation into Matt Cooke.
Philedelpia: Trade Lecavelier to the first team to agree to take his contract.
Pittsburgh:Instead of a suggestion, here is a prediction: After years of bad injury luck, Malkin and Crosby will both be healthy this year and the Penguins will dominate the NHL and win their second Cup. If both stars were healthy, it would probably be their fourth. Since they've both hardly been healthy at the same time for several years, I think we sometimes forget how crazy it is that one team has two of the best three or four players in the world on it.
San Jose: Realize that your fans are not too dumb to understand that you had 111 points and lost four games in a row to be eliminated while playing a recent Cup Champion in the first round. You should just tell them you got unlucky and aren’t going to rip the team apart because of four games of bad luck. They would understand, there is no need to throw the best player in the history of your franchise to the wolves.
St.Louis: Make Jake Allen the starter. See Minnesota.
Tampa: Try to live up to the hype?
Toronto: Keep Nylander in the NHL, trade Lupul and use the salary cap savings to get a defenseman to add to your top four.
Vancouver: See what other positions you have star players at, then give them both away for pennies on the dollar, preferably after a long drawn out saga.
Washington: Hire a carpenter to make a case for the Norris Trophy that Brooks Orpik is about to win.
Winnipeg: Keep Evander Kane.
