GAME DAY vs. Rangers
The Red Wings are in Manhattan tonight to face the New York Rangers. The Rangers have been busy in 2014, since the ball dropped in Times Square the Blueshirts have gone 4-2-1. The last time these two teams met, the Rangers won 3-2 with a late overtime goal.
The Wings are one point back of the Rangers for the last wild card spot in the Eastern Conference so the 2 points up for grabs tonight are especially important for both teams. The Senators and the Devils, both teams looking to leapfrog the Wings, are also in action tonight. Should the Wings lose and the Sens and Devils win, the Wings could quickly find themselves fifth in the Wild Card race.
Injuries continue to be the story of the season for the Wings. Six starters remain out of the lineup tonight though there is a possibility that Johan Franzen could make his return tonight. Tomas Tatar won’t be in the lineup tonight due to personal reasons related to the passing of his father last week. Alfredsson and Datsyuk remain day-to-day.
