Last time Nathan Gerbe and Andrej Sekera came to Buffalo, the game ended up being postponed because of the weather. Now, they are back and ready to take on the slumping Sabres.
Buffalo have had a rough go as of late and have dropped four straight 4-3 decisions. They've all been close games and the Sabres have earned a few points, but haven't won in over a week and a half ago. The last win came against the Caps.
It's weird because the scoring has actually improved over the last week or so. 3 goals in four straight games is a vast improvement for this team, but it hasn't resulted in any victories.
For tonight, my eyes are on recent callup Phil Varone, who is expected to make his NHL debut. I believe he should have earned a chance a while ago, but he is finally getting it.
“When Coach Cassidy called me in, a number of things were going through my head. I thought maybe I got traded. They pulled me off the ice right away,… he said. “Then I thought maybe he just wanted to talk about this weekend’s games down in Rochester. When he told me the news, it brought some tears to my eyes,… he said. “I called my parents right away. It’s something I’ll never forget for sure.… - Phil Varone
Jhonas Enroth is expected to get the start in goal, still looking for his 2nd win of the season. Pysyk, Omark and Scott are the scratches for tonight's game.
Do the Sabres break the losing streak tonight? Does Varone get his first NHL point? Do Gerbe/Sekera score against their former team?
As always, thank you for reading!
