The Canucks have named Trevor Linden team president and I heard from a very good source just now that another former NHLer, current King of Discipline, Brendan Shanahan, could be the next GM of the team... I have been hearing for a few years now that Shanny wanted to be a GM, and have even heard he had turned down a few opportunities in order to stay at the NHL and help fix the suspension system. Shanahan and Linden of course once worked together at the NHLPA in the past...back in the day when Eric Lindros was an ombudsman...good times...That's when lockouts were lockouts kids..
Anyway, they were a good combination then and would be a strong partnership here...

Update. Bob McKenzie reporting the Leafs have also reached out to Shanahan. All this shows that Shanny is absolutely a person organizations want and I continue to hear that while he likes his current job he would be open to other opportunities.
