Goalie Injuries
As you probably know by now John Gibson was placed on IR yesterday. He is expected to miss the next six weeks with a groin injury. There is never a good time to get hurt, but in Gibson's case he was on a roll and was earning increased playing time. Jason LaBarbera started Sunday after his call up and then Gibson's injury.
LaBarbera's promotion was due to number one goalie Frederik Andersen's leg injury. He missed Sunday night's game; his availability for tonight had been in question until midday. Andersen was the first goalie off the ice which is usually an indicator the he would start. However, nothing should be taken for granted. The Ducks tweeted the following:
#NHLDucks Boudreau on the goalies tonight: "Freddie and Jason are both available, and one of them will start." #NYIvsANA

News and Notes
Right wing Corey Perry was chosen as the NHL's player of the month. He had two hat tricks in October which propelled him to the league lead in goals with 10.
The Ducks also tweeted that Kyle Palmieri was on the mend.
Also - Boudreau said injured #NHLDucks forward Kyle Palmieri (high ankle sprain) could be ready to play in two weeks.
