The Toronto Maple Leafs Need....? (nashville)

Good…morning.

I am going to be completely honest; it is certainly not often that I can say this, but I am rather speechless after last night. I really don’t have much insight to offer, any breakdowns of the game or their play. It was simply miserable.

After a dismal first period with three goals scored and a lack of effort, intensity, or care from the home team, I started to take notes. I said to myself – “Colin, you’ve got a blog to write about tomorrow so let’s focus in on some key points and break down what this team can do to improve….

Here’s what my notepad looked like.

I mean, I was left without a meaningful thought in my head. The game was, in its entirety, terrible. Just about anything that you can instruct to a team learning to play the game or wanting to compete, was absent. The team didn’t seem to care to play, and it even got to the point where the media afterwards asked both Dion Phaneuf and Cody Franson if they were “playing to intentionally, or unintentionally, have the coach fired….

People are baffled. The masses were left with a feeling of repugnance and utter embarrassment. In fact, Leafs fans are making fun of themselves and other fan bases actually, for some reason, feel bad! Toronto has allowed 15 goals in their last two games played and only scored four themselves.

That’s…bad. I almost wonder if the Marlies would have put up a better fight…wait, Buffalo was filled with AHLer’s and they managed six goals so I guess that’s not really out of question!

Anyways, I don’t want to ramble any more. As mentioned I don’t have any insight to offer or break down of the game. I'm actually at a loss for words when it comes to assessing what this team is capable of or what they need to do to improve.

So I will turn it over to you. What is Toronto’s biggest issue right now?
