The Red Wings played faster hockey and their quickness/skill drove the big, bad, Bruins crazy.
At 16:59 of the third period, Datsyuk's filthy mitts gave the Red Wings the only goal needed to win Game 1.
Voila! Just like that, Boston's home ice advantage disappeared, courtesy Datsyuk's heroics and deft puck skills.
Jimmy Howard made 25 saves.

" I got your crap call right here, pal!!"

The NHL has smacked Quennville with a $25,000 fine for his impromptu dance routine.
Quennville was upset because he thought that St. Louis Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk should have received a delay of game penalty after he dumped a puck over the glass while he was killing a penalty.

As Thomas Vanek (Montreal) and Matt Moulson (Minnesota) continue to compete in the Stanley Cup playoffs for their new respective teams, there is still unfinished business between the Buffalo Sabres and NY Islanders.
The plot thickened on Tuesday night when the Sabres learned that they will be selecting second overall in this June’s entry draft. The Islanders also learned that they will be selecting fifth overall come June. Visions of sugar plums and two prime picks in the top five danced through the hearts and minds of Sabres fans all across North America.
Garth Snow owes Tim Murray a first round draft choice. Be it in this June’s NHL entry draft or in 2015’s entry draft.
Comes news out of Long Island today that Snow has capitulated and is now considering using his fifth overall pick in the 2014 NHL draft, meaning, Buffalo would then receive the Isles’ first round pick in the 2015 Connor McDavid draft.
According to Sportsnet NY, Snow and other Isles dignitaries including Doug Weight, were guests at Westbury Manor on Thursday night to meet-n-greet fans, and to conduct a Q&A session with disgruntled Islanders supporters at a season-ending event.

— Rob Del Muro (@gmen8069) April 17, 2014According to Rob Del Muro, a producer for News 12 TV, Snow mentioned that he “would wager any amount of money… that the Isles will hold on to their 2014 first round draft choice.
Should be cash in his 2014 first rounder now, he will likely land difference-making forward like Leon Draisaitl, Michael Dal Colle, Brendan Perlini, or Nick Ritchie
Snow is not obligated to reveal his plans to Murray until June 1.
Murray knows full well that the Islanders will be a lottery team in 2014-15. He will gladly accept Snow's first round selection in the Connor McDavid sweepstakes.
The Islanders sure do create a lot of drama, don't they?

How bad ass is Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf?
On Wednesday night in Game 1 of the Ducks-Stars series, Getzlaf took a literal bullet to the face for his teammates. Leading 4-3 in the final 30 second of the game with the tying puck on Tyler Seguin's stick, Getzlaf threw himself into harm's way. The Ducks blew a 4-0 lead to the Stars and had to do all that they could to preserve the victory.
Getzlaf's x-rays were negative.
Nice zipper chin. Leaders lead. Getzlaf is one of the best leaders in today's NHL because he's willing to dive onto a live hand grenade for his boys.
One of the toughest guys I know #warrior #ducks #playoffperformer #saskboy pic.twitter.com/ieVIthEx8D
— Chris Getzlaf (@ChrisGetzlaf) April 17, 2014Getzlaf will play tonight in Game 2.
Bad ass!
