The Hammer Comes Down; Carcillo 10 Games, Prust 2 Game Suspension (Rumours)

The NHL came down with suspensions stemming from the Brandon Prust hit on Derek Stepan in the first period of Game 3 between the Rangers and Canadiens.

Habs winger Brandon Prust had a phone hearing with new NHL Department of Player Safety head Stephane Quintal on Friday and the former Ranger has received a two game suspension for the hit.

Stepan played the rest of Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss, but is reportedly undergoing surgery for a broken jaw and his status for the remainder of the series is in question.

Carcillo received an automatic 10-game suspension (Rule 40, category two) for abusing an official as he struck linesman Scott Driscoll with his elbow trying to get at Prust after the hit on Stepan.
