Streak snappers (Buffalo)

Many considered it to be an easy win over Buffalo, which would have extended their winning streak to nine games. The Sabres were already one of the victims during that streak, but Saturday was an entirely different story.

The Sabres had no problems scoring and didn't need to rely on overtime or a shootout to get points. It was a nice, clean victory and is something we really haven't seen at all this season.

What's more impressive is the fact that they scored two shorthanded goals. It's clear that this team is moving in the right direction. They're still not winning often, but you can tell that Nolan has made a positive impact so far.

Even though they are at the bottom of the standings, Sabres hockey has been watchable again. It's a big difference from earlier this season.

The Sabres cancelled their practice this morning so we won't know the status of Leino and Stafford until tomorrow.

The Sabres have a tough schedule this week with four games in six nights. A back-to-back against Pittsburgh/Washington and then visits to Phoenix and Colorado.

I mentioned it in the comment thread yesterday, but I'll say it again in case you missed it. I'm thinking of having some kind of Sabres Hockeybuzz viewing party for a game down the road. I'm leaning toward Duff's as a location or something similar. It would be kind of neat to meet people in person. Keep letting me know your thoughts on that and if you would be interested.

On another random note, how long do you think it will be until the Winter Classic returns to Buffalo? It was amazing the first time and I'd imagine the team would be trying to host another one in the next few years.

As always, thank you for reading!
