More and more I am hearing the Sharks are still trying to trade Marleau and Thornton...and the more I hear about it the more it would appear the Sharks even have trading partners but they don't believe they could get their veterans to agree to a deal.
"Taking the "C' and "A" off of the sweaters of these two proud players really has no upside at this point, and perhaps is more about telling these guys to be ready for some hard decisions," a source reiterated.
I have discussed this on the podcast prior because I really don't think the Sharks are going to exactly "motivate" Thornton and Marleau at this point. Marleau doesn't work that way and Thornton is a very popular captain among his teammates. You can be sure Pavelski wouldn't exact jump at the chance of taking the C from Joe.
