Congratulations to Sidney Crosby on officially winning the Art Ross Trophy. Crosby has been an offensive dynamo since week 1 this season and it has culminated with him leading the league in points for the 2nd time in his career. Strange to think this is only his 2nd time winning the trophy but injuries are the obvious culprit there. Crosby finished the year with 104 points in 80 games (1.30 points per game). No other player had 100 points, no other player had 90 points. Ryan Getzlaf finished in 2nd place with 87 points.

With Crosby winning the Art Ross Trophy the Penguins must feel like taking back what they rightly believe is their property

As noted Crosby left his competition in the dust this year.

Jagr was not awarded the Hart Trophy that season. Chris Pronger was the winner. I don’t see Crosby losing out on the Hart Trophy like Jagr did in 1999.

Edit: Jagr DID win Hart Trophy in 1999, Pronger won Hart over Jagr in 2000.

Once again, congrats to Sidney Crosby. He deserves to have some tangible rewards for his play.

Tomas Vokoun has been called up to join the Penguins roster. He is most likely going to assume the 3rd string goalie role. It’s great to see that Vokoun’s health has improved to the point where he is able to take part in game action again.

James Neal finished the year strong. In his last 3 games he had 3 goals and 5 points. James Neal is a huge part of the Penguins potential postseason success given how much rides on the top 6 carrying the load. It is encouraging to see those numbers with Malkin out of the lineup.

Kris Letang has looked great since returning from his hiatus. He looks fresh, he looks fast, and he clearly gives the Penguins a dynamic that they didn’t have before.

Letang had a little bit of rust and was a 36.6% possession player in the Red Wings game (his first game back) but since then he is clicking at 54.7% and is consistently helping the forwards out with getting the puck out of the zone with possession.

Kris Letang also has 1 goal and 3 assists since coming back from injury. His 11 goals this season are a career high and he accomplished that feat in only 37 games.

The Penguins are not practicing today and there will be no injury updates. Tomorrow we should find out a lot more on the Evgeni Malkin front.

Thanks for reading!
