Hard work will beat talent when talent refuses to work hard.

The Buffalo Sabres won in San Jose because they wanted the two points more than the Sharks did. Plain and Simple. The Sabres worked harder than the Sharks did.

The offensively impressive Sharks got zero production out of stars Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski, et al. The result was a gritty 2-1 win for the Sabres.

Losses in Anaheim and LA served as building blocks for Buffalo's success in San Jose. Despite their losses to the Ducks and the Kings, the Sabres played the right way in defeat.

Their hard work was rewarded with their 2-1 win in San Jose.

Inexplicably, the Sabres have now beaten the Sharks in 7 straight games.

Nicahl Neuvirth ears his first win as a Sabre.

Congrats to Samson Reinhart. The second overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft recorded his first NHL point on Nic Deslaurier's goal in the third period in San Jose. The goal broke a 0-0 tie.

Reinhart fed Cody McCormick who found Deslauriers for the goal.

While his team is jetting home from its three game Cali roadie, Sabres GM Tim Murray will be watching the Ottawa Senators-New Jersey Devils game in his old stomping grounds.

Whats up with that?

The Senators are looking to add a veteran winger/scorer.

Might Uncle Bryan be interested in trading with his nephew for Drew Stafford or Chris Stewart?

Both Sabres forwards are playing out the final year of their current contracts.

The Boston Bruins are looking for a replacement for Jarome Iginla's 30 goals from last season. Stewart is on their wish list. Stewart's career high was 28 in Colorado a few years back.

When are NHL players going to learn? It's not cool, nor is it permissible to hit opponents from behind in today's NHL. Its cowardly and disgusting, to say nothing of it being extremely dangerous.

Tommy Wingels is staring down the gun barrel of a suspension for this greasy, dangerous hit that he applied to Sabres captain Brian Gionta in the first period of Saturday's game.

Amazingly, there was no penalty called on this punk play.

My thinking is that Stephane Quintal and Chris Pronger will be reviewing this hit and will be contacting the young Sharks forward for a disciplinary hearing.

Tankfully, the Sabres conclude their three game California roadie in San Jose today.

Cali hasn't been kind to the Sabres this week. They were shutout in Los Angeles on Thursday night. In the past week, the Sabres have been shutout three times to Florida, Boston, and LA.

Are we seeing a goalie controversy brewing in Buffalo?

Just when you thought it was safe to assume that Jhonas Enroth would be starting in goal in San Jose, Ted Nolan caused a stir when he started Michal Neuvirth in goal instead.

Neuvirth gets the start over Enroth. I dont like this decision.

Jhonas has been Sabres MVP with his .914 save % and 3.13 GAA. Has allowed 19 goal in 6 starts.

Sabres PP enters game ohfer 27 on PP in 8 games. Unacceptable.

The Sabres have been undermining Enroth's stellar performances for the past three weeks. They've scored an embarrassingly low 7 goals for Enroth.

Jhonas has been shut out three straight games. He's faced 110 shots while allowing only 7 Gs against. NO GOAL SUPPORT
