It is pretty amazing that there would be any rumors as we are about to enter the final two weeks of August. There are usually a few teams at this point who don't think they are as of yet complete, and this year I have found at least four at this point who are still in a tinkering mindset...here is some of the latest on two such spots...
On Edmonton... The Oilers are going into a season with a much better situation in goal than they have seen in sometime, however there is still at least one faction of team management that sees them as incomplete in their own end as well as up front in key bottom six spots. The Oilers are still talking to Philly and Chicago with interest in defensive help...still hear Braydon Coburn's name mentioned as well as Nick Leddy. Also the Oilers have talked to Jordan Tootoo, who recently turned down a few two-way offers.
On Toronto....
Not convinced, despite all the language, that James Reimer is staying in Toronto. Not at all. In fact I have even heard rumors of some possible veteran goalie invites to camp. Winnipeg has so far been not willing to give what the Leafs want...there may be another possibility.
