Quick Injury Update and Up Come More Kids (Jonathan Quick)

After returning to Los Angeles after the game in Buffalo Tuesday night, Quick had an MRI and was diagnosed with a grade 2 groin strain.

While said injury isn't serious, it still could take anywhere between 3-6 weeks to heal. This leaves Ben Scrivens and the 23-year old Martin Jones to man the pipes.

In case you were wondering about Martin Jones' career numbers, take a look:

Also among the slew of roster moves made yesterday, the Kings placed forward Kyle Clifford on IR with concussion symptoms and defenseman Matt Greene on LTIR with an undisclosed upper body injury. The injury is apparently unrelated to his herniated disc which kept him out nearly the entirety of last season. The move freed up enough cap space for the Kings to call up 21-year old left winger Tanner Pearson. I had pointed out the possibility of Pearson being called up in a previous blog due to injuries and proximity to Manchester and it appears that has come to fruition. If only it could have under better circumstances.

Quick glance at Pearson's stats.

Without Greene the Kings are now down to six defenseman as Alec Martinez will step in after being a healthy scratch.

The depth of the team is certainly being tested as injuries are piling up. This is a big roadtrip for the team as they are playing some very winnable games, but now have to deal with the absence of many starters. Jarret Stoll is just starting to skate, and Jeff Carter is still out with a broken foot.

The Kings start the first night of a back to back tonight against the Islanders and then the Devils. It remains to be seen wether Jones gets one of the two starts or if "The Professor", Ben Scrivens, gets both.
