Rich Peverley is counting his lucky stars. Today, he thanked the first responders, hospital personnel, his teammates, fan, friends and family who have shown their support after he collapsed on the bench during the Stars-Blue Jax game on Monday night.
The 31-year-old Stanley Cup winner will not play another game this season. Instead, he will undergo a procedure to correct his cardiac issue.
Peverley will undergo a heart procedure at the Cleveland Clinic — a procedure that was originally scheduled for the off-season, but has urgently been expedited after he suffered a “cardiac event… during Monday night's game. According to reports, Peverley was made aware of this cardiac issue earlier this season. Former Buffalo Sabres D-man and current assistant coach Teppo Numminen underwent a cardiac procedure of his own several years ago.
Peverley spoke from the heart at today's presser which also included Stars head coach Lindy Ruff, GM Jim Nill and team doctors Robert Dimeff and William Robertson.
