It is with regret that I start off today's blog with the following bad news.
Matthew Wuest, the founder and director of Capgeek.com, announced that the site will be permanently shutdown due to personal health concerns. If you use the internet for hockey related reasons there is a 99% chance that you also frequented his amazing Capgeek website.
I wish Matthew the best and thank you for providing such a valuable resource to the hockey community.
As far as a replacement for Capgeek goes I believe NHL Numbers has salary cap data available.

David Perron and Sidney Crosby hooked up on what will be the first of many goals they join forces on.
Perron is a natural fit for a guy like Crosby. He can play in time and space, he can win battles and create from down low, and most importantly he can shoot and finish off plays.
“That was the probably the best pass I’ve ever received,… Perron said. “Over two sticks and I had a good portion of the net to put it in, so it felt good.…
While I have no doubt that Perron would find success with Malkin as well, I think leaving him with Sidney is the proper move here.
What the Penguins can't continue to do is leave Evgeni Malkin with subpar winger options. Malkin looks good out there, he's playing great this year, but he can't do it by himself. This fascination with propping up Brandon Sutter needs to end. Evgeni Malkin can carry a team to victory if he has support, Brandon Sutter cannot.
Why marginalize your best assets in the name of depth? You don't have depth right now, you have an enormous amount of injuries. You need to ride the big dogs in these circumstances, that is why you have them.
On a night where offense was hard to come by Malkin spent shift after shift being underutilized
If coach Johnston is dead set on a Sutter Bennett combo I'll meet him halfway. Give each center at least one top six winger. If pairings were a thing from training camp, let's have it be a thing right now while the team is going through some injury issues.

Not much else to take away from that game. Pittsburgh will play Boston on Wednesday and it is likely that Paul Martin makes his return then.
That Jaromir Jagr guy keeps on doing incredible things
Jagr became oldest to record hat trick Saturday. Nearly youngest at 18 yrs, 352 days. Jordan Staal-18 yrs, 153 days. http://t.co/zwDPH3N1av
