I recently wrote about Adam Henrique, his development and the likelihood of him out performing his contract (six years, $24 million), and one area I didn't really touch on is penalty killing.
Since joining the league, no player has produced more offense while playing 4 vs 5 hockey than the Devils' own Adam Henrique.
I took to the numbers to see just how far ahead he is of the league's top offensive penalty killers (quite a bit), and graphed the numbers for the only 10 players who average at least one point per 60 minutes of 4 vs 5 from 2011-14.
As you can see, Henrique is far and away the most efficient penalty killer in terms of producing points down a man, and it's not even close. He's also first in individual shot attempts.
As bad as the Devils are offensively, they're quite good at scoring on the penalty kill, which is evident in having three of the league's top 10 rate point producers since 2011.
In the rest of the crowd, there are really no surprises. Some of the best two-way forwards in Bryan Little, Patrice Bergeron, Jordan Staal etc. made the list, and an underrated up-and-coming two-way guy in Lars Eller also cracked the top-10.
It'll be interesting to see if these guys - more so Henrique and Patrik Elias - can continue to produce at such a high rate when playing shorthanded.
