Jackets blue chip prospect Sonny Milano will be taking his talents to Plymouth this year. Maybe.
There had been rumblings all summer that Milano was strongly considering playing with the OHL's Plymouth Whalers this fall, and he didn't exactly shut them down when questioned recently.
Those rumors have come up again as broadcaster Jeff Marek, who hosts CHL hockey on Sportsnet, is reporting Milano will be playing with Plymouth this season.
Also, look for CBJ 1st rounder Sonny Milano to announce he'll forego playing at Boston College in favour of the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL.
— Jeff Marek (@JeffMarek) August 3, 2014So, done deal. He'll be playing in Plymouth next season, right? Not according to Milano.
Sonny Milano confirms he will attend Boston College in the fall. Says no truth to reports of him going to Plymouth
— Adam Kimelman (@NHLAdamK) August 4, 2014Some will read those comments as certainty that he will be heading to Boston College, but I think it's a smokescreen. If he says he's going to the OHL and something falls through before he signs his contract, he could lose his scholarship as well.
We'll have to wait and see how this plays out, but when all is said and done I think he'll be wearing a Whalers jersey this fall.
