Nolan wants to build around Miller? (Buffalo)

Ted Nolan wants to build the team around Ryan Miller. At least that's what his statement meant at practice today. That statement alone comes as a bit of a surprise. It seems like Miller's name has been mentioned in rumors for years, but this statement sounds like the organization may have convinced Miller to want to stay.

Miller did say that he wanted to see the direction this team was going in before he made any decisions. Have to wonder if he likes what he sees.

The team has been playing better, but there has never been a solid defense in front of Miller, except during the last Olympics.

" "It starts from goaltending out. You build around him vs. using him as a pawn to try to get something to make you better." I talked to Pat about this, the one thing we want to do is create an environment where people want to come here and stay here, so hopefully Miller likes what we're doing and you never know." - Ted Nolan

Miller is a solid goaltender and his future needs to be decided this season. I wouldn't mind signing Miller to a multi year extension and having him be this team's #1 goaltender. If that were the case, I would see what I could get for Jhonas Enroth.

Enroth is ready to take on a big role, but if Miller stays, than Enroth needs to go. Why keep wasting Enroth's time on the bench? He's been there long enough and is good enough to be a starter for some teams.

As always, thank you for reading!
