The New Jersey Devils have recalled Reid Boucher in advance of their game Tuesday night in Pittsburgh.
With Martin Havlat and Jordin Tootoo on injured reserve, and the possibility of Mike Cammalleri not being able to play, the Devils needed another forward for their top-9.
Albany is off to a 5-0-1 start in the AHL this season, and Reid Boucher is one of the big reasons why. Through six games he has a goal, four points and 15 shots on goal.
Boucher held his own while playing in New Jersey last year, and had a pretty good preseason, so the Devils should be comfortable using him in the top-9.
He skated on a line with Adam Henrique and Michael Ryder in practice, so it seems like the plan is to give him a good opportunity in that role.
Boucher is one of the few Devils who has scored in a shootout over the last season and a bit. If it comes down to that, Boucher gives Pete DeBoer a good option there as well.
