The Ducks trimmed the roster to 28 players, late yesterday afternoon.
Assigned to Norfolk (AHL): Jesse Blacker - Defenseman Mat Clark - Defenseman Max Friberg - Center/Left wing Chris Wagner - Center/Right wing
15 forwards, 10 defenseman and three goalies remain. Shea Theodore is out long term, so there are really nine defenseman competing for seven slots.
These players were longshots to make the team so their demotion was expected. Hats off to Max Friberg, he really had a great training camp and he may have earned himself a call up later in the year.
The surprising news is the player that is still with the team, 2011 sixth round pick Josh Manson. All summer the consensus was that Bryan Allen and Mark Fistric would battle it out for the seven defenseman slot. If Manson can win the job, it would open just under $4M in cap space.
