Today is the day!
No, not the day where we get to watch the first of many "Winter Classics" or Stadium Series. I still think that the league over-saturated the idea of the outdoor games.
Today, Team USA will be named and there is a very good chance that Ryan Miller will have another opportunity to start in Sochi. We all know how it worked out four years ago, but Miller put up ridiculous numbers then, and wants the gold medal badly.
Miller has been heating up as of late, and the past month has helped lift his numbers up. He stopped 278 shots in December, a month where he earned a .948 save percentage. He had a similar month four years ago.
The Olympics have certainly been motivation for Miller, and now we just await the official announcement.
Jonathan Quick and Jimmy Howard seemed to be in the running for the spot earlier in the year, but Miller still remains the most experienced. He's even proved what he can do in the Olympics.
It's all but official that Miller lands the job for Team USA.
Also, Larsson and McNabb are being called up.
