The Capitals have named Assistant GM Brian MacLellan their new General Manager and former Nashville Predators bench bosss Barry Trotz their new head coach. Trotz is especially a very big get for the Caps.

Happy Memorial Day Hockey world. I am doing my normal Memorial Day Weekend Tradition...Preparing and finalizing the UFA/Trade Rumor Chart for the upcoming draft and UFA Day. It is hard to imagine the draft is a month away!
There has been some definite talk out there that Ryan Miller could be the next goalie for the Vancouver Canucks now that Jim Benning has taken over. I realize the proximity to the West Coast makes Miller happy, but I continue to hear from those closest to Miller that bigger factor in play here is Miller's desire to win a Stanley Cup. That is his driving force.
The Flyers will be looking to make a move at the draft for a D-man and the three names I keep hearing mentioned are Anaheim's Sami Vatanen, Dallas' Trevor Daley, and Winnipeg's Dustin Byfuglien. All three are names you will hear a lot of from several teams at the draft. The Maple Leafs also have interest in Daley.
I am also hearing the Ducks and Lightning are both very much wanting to talk to Benning about possibly acquiring Ryan Kesler..I wouldn't at all be surprised were that trade to go down before the draft...
