In case you missed it yesterday, I was on NHL Live talking about the NCAA Tournament and Hobey Baker finalists. Watch it here.
I had a blog for you to go with it, but there was a technical malfunction, so the short of it is that Union defeated Vermont yesterday 5-2, while Providence poured on the offense against stingy Quinnipiac to win 4-0. The Dutchmen and the Friars will play today at 3pm ET on ESPN2 for a spot in the Frozen Four.
Ferris State defeated Colgate 1-0, while North Dakota pulled off the relative upset against Wisconsin with a 5-2 win over a not-so-old rival. The Bulldogs and the Former Fighting Sioux will play at 6:30pm ET on ESPNU for an all-expenses paid trip to Philadelphia in two weeks.
In the Northeast, Boston College and Denver faceoff at 4pm ET on ESPNU with UMass-Lowell and Minnesota State dropping the puck at 7:30pm ET on ESPN3 (online with a tape delay replay later on ESPNU)
In the West, Minnesota takes on Robert Morris at 5:30pm ET on ESPN2 while St. Cloud State and Notre Dame get after it at 9pm ET on ESPNU.
My picks for the Frozen Four are a repeat of 2012 - Minnesota, BC, Ferris St and Union - but I've got my eyes on UMass-Lowell and the brick wall known as Connor Hellebuyck, Providence if Gillies plays the way he did yesterday and they can generate the same offensive output (consistency has not been their things this year), Notre Dame if they can execute their stingy game plan and North Dakota who thrives in the second season.
Tune in and enjoy the games! I'll be tweeting throughout and will have a complete recap blog for you tomorrow!
