Looking At The 10 Most Tradeable UFA's-To-Be in 2014-15 (NHL Podcast)

#1 Bobby Ryan.

Hard to argue here. Rumors that Ryan turned down an offer last week were false, but there is a common belief here that the Sens are working up major offer, and a feeling that Ryan is open to exploring the options in Ottawa, however my sources continue to say he would like to get a clear picture on the direction the Sens are heading and that may take some time into the season to get a feel for. If he is available expect the price to be monstrous and include at least a very good draft pick in the coming draft. Possible two #1s over the the next three years.

#2. Mike Green.

Mike Green has to be noticing the players around him are changing very quickly and with a new coach in town it becomes now or never for the 28 year old UFA to be. All indications are Barry Trotz wants to give him the freedom to be the player he is and that could make Green much more valuable. I expect a huge year out of him. All that will make the deadline interesting as the Caps may not have the cap space to retain him next year and depending where the Capitals find themselves in the playoff hunt he could be a great piece for a team in need of his services and bring the Caps back a huge return.

#3. Justin Williams/Mike Richards

They are tradeable and one of the two is in all likelihood playing his final year in LA...however the Kings would be nuts to move either when both can help them immensely win their third Cup in four years. However, I fully expect one or both to be moved (or have their rights moved) around the draft this summer.

#4. Scottie Upshall

Upshall has battled injuries and will be a 30 year old UFA this summer. There is a ton of respect around the NHL of r Upshall..make no mistake there. He is a pest who can stir things up all while scoring big goals in bunches. His age makes him maybe not the perfect long-term fit for a team that is looking 5 years down the line though. If he is healthy he will make some playoff team very happy.

#5. Kimmo Timonen

Timonen wants to retire as a Flyer, and may never play again, but I could see a scenario where he comes back to play and if the Flyers are not looking like a contender another team would throw a lot of interest his way. Right now it doesn't look possible, but his experience and potential extra energy if he is healthy along with several young Flyers defense progressing could paint a different picture.

#6. Drew Stafford.

Drew will be a 29 year old UFA on a team moving to a way younger position, and honestly could benefit a ton from a change of scenery. Many people have soured on Stafford lately, but I am of the belief a new place to play could ignite something. And I have talked to others who are in position to make decisions who agree,

#7. Antii Niemi.

Just a hunch here. Niemi goes into camp as the Sharks starter, and as many of you know I am big Niemi supporter. I am not convinced the season ends with Niemii in San Jose. I also heard today that the Sharks are looking at Martin Brodeur....sooo there is that.....

#8. Johnny Oduya

If he isn't trade prior to the season the Hawks will move his rights at least at the draft. This will be his last year in Chicago due to cap issues, and someone would be wise to jump on this.

#9. Johnny Boychuk

The Jets have increased their interest in "helping Boston" through their Cap woes...This could happen sooner than later as I keep eating the Bruins may be closing in on signing Reilly Smith...perhaps as early as today.

#10. Joel Ward

Ward will be 34 and is reunited with his former Nashville coach in Washington...However if the Caps look at this like a two year project Ward has shown himself to be a very solid playoff performer...
