Whenever there are a lot of games on the schedule, I take a look at the standings and see which games are potential "four point" games and might have the biggest impact on who's up and who's down. With 11 games on deck tonight, today's quick glance made me realize that if Columbus and Florida win tonight, we will have a five-way tie for 9th place in the Eastern Conference - Philadelphia, New York Rangers, New Jersey, Ottawa and Columbus. Furthermore, those five teams will still be 3-5 points out of a playoff spot with Florida just a point behind them. There's a little more separation in the West, but not much, which brings me to today's discussion topic. Is this parity or mediocrity? Is there even a difference?
