Hi there, I’m Adam. For those who may not remember me, I’ve been writing for Hockeybuzz on and off for the last 6 years or so. Over the last little while I had to take a leave of absence in order to focus my time completing my Sport Management degree at Brock University. Since I am just about finished now, I’m ready to dive right back into the swing of things and be a voice on Hockeybuzz.
There are two areas that I’m going to be focusing on for the website. The Hockey Hall of Fame and Hockey History. This is my niche because over the last eight years, I have been surrounded by Hockey History, whether it be through Brock University or my other ventures into the sport world. This is a subject I enjoy debating with others and possibly teaching something new.
First I want to talk about what I plan to do to cover the Hockey Hall of Fame. In most cases, the Hockey world only covers the Hall of Fame twice a year. Once in June when they announce the new Inductees and once in November when those new Inductees are officially inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. The thing is about this subject is that the debate can go all year round. There are so many candidates in all three categories (Player, Builder, Official) that can easily have a case to get in.
What I plan to do weekly is to outline the case for numerous candidates to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Some of these candidates you’ll recognize, some you won’t. Hopefully for some of them you’ll learn something new about that person’s career and possibly the history of the game. With this in mind, I’m open to suggestions on who I should outline. You can email me, send me a tweet, or just post on the comment section of this blog for suggestions and I’ll do my best to accommodate.
The idea here is that if we get enough cases done when June comes around, we will be able to have our own Induction Selection. There will be more on that when the time comes, but I look forward to being interactive with the readers on Hockeybuzz.
Moving on to Hockey History as a whole. If you read into it the way I have it is amazing how everything is connected. How when you look back in time at news stories that happened in the 70s, 80s, 90s… they’re almost the same. I hope to show some of patterns that have arisen throughout the history of Hockey and make connections to the present. I hope to achieve this by writing a series of blogs which include historical stories, pictures of artifacts from the Hockey Hall of Fame, and hopefully some interviews from NHL alumni or Honoured Members.
