The Maple Leafs continued their management and coaching reshuffle on Tuesday, announcing that assistant GM’s Dave Poulin and Claude Loiselle have been relieved of their duties and will announce the hiring of 28-year-old Soo Greyhounds GM Kyle Dubas at a afternoon press conference at Air Canada Center.
The 55-year-old Poulin was hired by former GM Brian Burke in 2009 as VP of Hockey Operations and has served in that capacity, as well as GM of the AHL Toronto Marlies since Dave Nonis took over for Burke in January 2013.
The 54-year-old Loiselle was also a Burke hire in 2010 after working as a scout in the Anaheim Ducks organization. His duties were primarily negotiating player contracts. This management reorganization comes on the heels of Steve Spott and Peter Horachek being hired as assistants to head coach Randy Carlyle just over a week ago.
Dubas has enjoyed a meteoric rise in hockey circles after graduating from Brock University's Sports Management Program, he became the youngest man to be certified to be a player agent and in 2011 becoming the youngest to ever be named an OHL general manager.
Kyle Dubas is the first front office hiring by Brendan Shanahan this summer. There is at least one hire, maybe two, to come.
