Kane Allegedly Beats Man, Eats Babies Next? (Evander Kane)

You might as well accept it. Kane is not going to be a Jet any longer. How can he when all this city does is go after him in any way it can. The latest came to light here from Mike McIntyre. It's an article detailing the lawsuit that has come against Evander Kane from a man alleging the Jets left-winger assaulted and beat him in the West End last summer.

As a guy who has a condo in the west end I can assure you that it's pretty hard to beat someone down there without a hell of a lot of noise happening. The agenda is clear, cash in on a young hockey star with a big contract as the Vancouver police dismissed the charges altogether.

It's likely the whole event is just another notch against Kane in the eyes of many. It's also likely that trading him seems like a formality to fans now, something they come to accept as necessary and practical. I wonder how they will feel when the return is just a fraction of what Kane is as a player?

The trouble now is stuff, whatever it may be, just seems to circle and/or gravitate to Kane. Whether he's a natural magnet, brings it on himself, or the only luck he has is bad matters not as the generalizations are far too firmly entrenched for many. Take it further into the racism forum too, there are legitimate arguments for that too. As a person who moved to Winnipeg I had to adjust to some of the prejudice towards some minorities I experienced. I don't doubt minorities experience racism here and Kane would be no different.

Whatever fuels this continuing event cycle with Kane is strong enough that it can't or won't stop. The why is no longer important as the challenge is that the only way to end it is to intervene. See, I'm even writing that something must be done.

If I'm Kane I keep on keeping on but I sure as heck would like some support from the guys in the room. The same kind Andrew Ladd got. I'll assume Sara Orlesky asked Kane's team mates the same lightning rod question she asked him? However, one person in the scrum has told me only Kane was asked and that seems fair. This is not about hockey, nor did it affect the team so the parameters of engagement and support are also different. That might be a mistake but it likely won't matter to anyone now. The damage is all but done in the minds of more than a few.

If Kane should be traded this summer we'll all have a great retrospective history to write about but unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons.
