Quick hit here on a day where I've suddenly gotten very, very busy indeed. I am hearing that Jaromir Jagr is very much in play to the previously mentioned teams but there's a bit of a catch here.
Jagr himself apparently isn't wild about the idea of being a rental on a contender again as he was with Boston a couple years ago. Jagr feels that teams by that point have the top of their lineup and their top power play unit in order to be in that position -- and he still feels he is more effective in a role where he is playing at the top of the lineup and is a fixture on the first power play unit. He does not especially enjoy being a supporting cast piece, although he would do so if asked.
That does not mean a deal will NOT go down -- Jagr is still most likely to get moved by New Jersey by the deadine if not sooner -- but it is interesting that the future Hall of Famer feels he may have a better situation in New Jersey right now than in some other potential destinations where clubs are more likely to be in the playoffs.
