The Islanders are set to host an injury depleted Detroit Red Wings team today at 4pm. Pavel Datsyuk, Todd Bertuzzi and Danny DeKeyser have been ruled out for this afternoon's game. It is time for the Islanders to come out flying and get a win. They need to come out of the coma that they played through against the Jets on Wednesday.
I honestly can't tell at times if the team is trying too hard or if the team is not trying at all. Regardless of what it is the results are the same; loss after loss keeps piling up. We know the team issues with a struggling defense but the only lines that have shown a pulse offensively are the first and fourth lines. Without any kind of scoring from the second or third lines this team is dead in the water.
At some point soon if things do not change they have to shake up this lineup. Find a way to open up two roster spots for Ryan Strome and Anders Lee. I'm not saying they are the answer and can save the season but I would love to see some kids who will actually fight for ice time and play with some much needed passion.
Right now this team simply looks like a unit that ate too much food at thanksgiving. They are stuck on the couch snoring. I don't know what will wake this team up. Perhaps a coaching change, a personal move, but something has to happen soon.
Lineups will be out shortly and if there is a reason for it I will surely update the site. I just want to take a minute and thank everyone who frequents my blogs. I am truly grateful for everyone here at hockey buzz and despite the success of the team I really enjoy writing, talking and sometimes screaming about hockey with all of you.
