"Hey Orange!" and an Epic Shootout Loss to the Kings (ryan)

Yesterday the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings unveiled their Stadium Series jersey's for the outdoor game at Dodger Stadium in January.

Here is the much anticipated great blast or orange the Ducks will sport in the game....Notice the snug fit. That must be for the aerodynamics or something technical sounding like that.

My first thought? OK, I get it...the Ducks play in ORANGE County and they are playing the L.A. team, but come on, really? - That is a lot of orange, no? Anaheim has a splash of orange in its current jersey's...this one may have over done it just a wee bit. I feel like if I stare at the jersey too long I'll get Vitamin C poisoning. I think Willie Wonka called and wants his Oompa Loopa Uniforms back. (rim shot)

I like the idea of using throwback or retro style jerseys in these special event games. I think this concept veers too far off the beaten path for my liking.

What do you think? Am I being a bit too picky? Do you like what you see?

Did the Ducks go a bit over the top with the Stadium Series jerseys?

*** The Ducks lost to the Kings, 3-2, on Tuesday night is an epic nine round shootout bonanza. The only goal scored in the skills competition was the one that won the game. Crazy right?

I know many of you despise the shootout, but man that was entertaining. Both Jonas Hiller and Kings rookie Martin Jones made it look easy.

A few notes about the game etc....

- The Ducks were heavily outplayed for most of the game. L.A. out shot them 51- 28 and somehow Anaheim still had a lead in the third period, albeit brief. Of course the Ducks would eventually lose in the SO, but coming away with a point in this one should be considered a blessing.

- Ryan Getzlaf scored his 14th goal of the season. It's the captain 11th game in a row with at least a point. At this point he has to be in the MVP discussion. In my opinion, Getzlaf is by far and away the Ducks most valuable player and it's not even close.

- Jonas Hiller was fantastic. He stopped 49 shots in the loss. Trust me this loss wasn't his fault. If anything he should get credit for the Ducks lone point. He never looked frazzled, even as the Kings peppered him with shot after shot.

The Jeff Carter goal was the result of a horrible turnover and almost unstoppable shot. I agree, he should have stopped the Dustin Brown shot. I won't hold it against him though. He was great.

- Corey Perry had a two-point game, that included his team leading 16th goal of the season.

- Cam Fowler picked up and assist for his 15th point in 30 games this season. He had 13 points in 37 games a year ago. I think the kid has found his groove.

- Hampus Lindholm picked up his seventh assist of the season. He has nine points in 28 games and is a plus-12. He is tied for third on the team with Ryan Getzlaf in plus/minus category. Think the Ducks are were they are now without him or Sami Vatanen stepping up in a big way? Nope.

- The race for the Pacific Division is insanely tight. Both the Kings and Sharks picked up two points last night to Anaheim's one. San Jose leads the division with 43 points followed the Ducks with 41 and the Kings with 40.

- Anaheim is off to Chicago for a game with the Hawks on Friday followed by a showdown with the Blues on Saturday.
