God is a Red Wings Fan. (e5) (NHL Rumors)

Ok...REALLY?

22 goals in the last 27 games from a guy who had 6 points in 22 NHL games a year ago? Hey Red Wings, aren't you supposed to have to rebuild or something?

Really?

Don't look now but the 24 year old "Gus" Gustav Nyquist is the best goal scorer in the NHL over the last month or so. (on second hand do look now, he is way too entertaining to ignore) And right now, he is not just slightly better than anyone else. He is dominating. If this was a movie and someone told me that Zetterberg's skill set and soul had been somehow transplanted into this kid'd body....I would say, "Ok, I buy that."

Oh and we need a name for what the Red Wings do...year after year now they have played a 52 game "pre-season" of sorts and then get serious enough for the final 30 to not only make the playoffs but become the one team no one wants to play in the playoffs. And this year has been the most remarkable to date.

I got it. Let's call only playing good hockey in February, March and April, "Winging it."

The injuries these Wings have withstood are mind numbing and surely would have taken down 29 other franchises. As good as Patrick Roy has been in all but locking up the Coach of the Year in Colorado, I think Mike Babcock has maybe been even better. Not that I want to get Avalanche and Red Wings fans in any sort of squabble...I know how these two franchises have such a great long standing mutual respect and admiration for one another...

But lets look at Nyquist for a second and the unbelievable ability for the Wings to get the most out of Swedish players. Of course it is incredible scouting, but surely there must be some divine intervention going on here...

God is a Red Wings fan. Plain and Simple.

And to further the point....

Duchene Out 4 weeks. Toews

This is a terrible transition given I just confirmed God to be a Red Wings fan, but news JUST came down that Matt Duchene will miss 4 weeks due to an injury...this coming after Jonathan Toews left last night's game with an upper body injury injury (no update yet..."probably not as serious" I was told, but that's not certain) and of course Patrick Kane is out..and the Leafs continue to lose...

Yeah, God must think the wings on the red wheel are angel wings or something....
