Garth Speaks the Day After (Islanders)

Not exactly Brian Burke territory, but Garth Snow has been making the rounds on the Hockey radio circuit today following yesterday's trade day. The first to post it on Twitter was Sportsnet Fan 590 with their chat.

Considering how it all went down, Garth Snow sounds pretty upbeat and relaxed discussing the details of the trade and what lead up to it. To think, I was afraid he'd be looking for a ledge to jump from. Nope.

My only real issue with the interview was the announcement that Matt Moulson was never a part of the plan for next season. That squishes the hope and discussion that Matt could be signed in July to return to the Islanders.

Snow also discussed how the club felt about the prospect they received in the trade and felt he is still a first round pick and was actually ahead of what he would have received if it was a 2014 or 2015 first rounder. They had him ranked at 22nd in his draft year. However, the analysts who know Montreal consider him behind the curve and not suitable for the Habs.

Moving on to tonight's game, the sweet voice of Jiggs McDonald will help us get over yesterday's drama. Wayne Gretzky will even stop by the booth tonight in Edmonton.

Mike Halmo and Matt Donovan will be back in the line up and Nabokov will be in net. Boulton is out with a busted hand (nice going.) Carkner and Martinek are also out.

Late game. Hopefully I can stay awake for it.
